Stroll Downtown Saturday in the Princess Street Promenade
“Downtown Kingston!” is inviting everyone to take a stroll down the centre of Princess Street this Saturday, July 30th, from 10am to 6pm when it will be closed to vehicular traffic from Division Street to Ontario Street for the Princess Street Promenade.
The 2011 Princess Street Promenade is an event where the main street in downtown Kingston is closed to vehicles. Stores, restaurants and community organizations take it to the streets to promote an active lifestyle in downtown Kingston. We have it all, from restaurant patios and BMX shows to Wall climbing and bouncy castles; a little something for everyone to enjoy.
This year Kingston Transit has joined the event by offering free transit all day on all routes.
The promenade is a one day festival that promotes active living and community involvement in the downtown. Last year, side streets off of Princess remained open, but this year the Promenade will include closure of the side streets between Ontario St. and Division St. (with the exception of Ontario St., Bagot St. and Barrie St.) This expansion will better allow for the safe passage of pedestrians across side streets during the event.
