What I saw on TV this week - new shows

What I saw on TV this week:

Dropped pants on X Factor
X-Factor was introduced in North America  and the first episode left a sour note to the watchers, not used to the european style show.

Godley, who performed “I’m Too Sexy,” cavorted across the stage as an “X” logo covered what appeared to be his nude nether regions. Godley told TMZ, though, he was wearing a leopard-print thong.

Regardless, the performance yielded a melodramatic reaction from Abdul, who stormed off the stage.
Poor Paula, the drama, with the cameras following her to the makeup room and pretending to vomit. It's just a "penis", something that for sure she saw many times before. In matter of fact, not comfirmed, Geo Godley, had a tong. Why the show continue for so long without being stopped... the more publicitity for the show, more "craving" from the audience and more money for Simon Cowel.

The Parents Television Council has filed an indecency complaint. The blurred-crotch segment aired shortly after 9 p.m. EDT, when indecent content is regulated by the network’s prime-time standards. PTC president Tim Winter said in a statement: “The prolonged, previously videotaped footage of a contestant dancing nude on the ‘X Factor’ stage represents a conscious decision by the producers — with the approval of the network’s broadcast standards department — to intentionally air this content in front of millions of families during hours when they knew full well that children would be watching.” “The X Factor” isn’t the only show to come under fire from the PTC recently. The group has also spoken out against NBC’s new series “The Playboy Club"

Sometimes the North Americans are such "tight asses", no wonder our TV channels/shows are so boring...  "spicy need". Live on... enjoy!
REVENGE  (new TV Show)

Revenge is a new take on Alexandre Dumas's classic tale told from a female perspective.

What it's about: A woman (Emily Van Camp) moves to the Hamptons to take vengeance on those who wronged her family in the past.
Centers on a young woman who is welcomed into a community filled with people who don't know she's only there to exact revenge on those who had destroyed her family.

In the pilot we learn of an event in Emily Thornes' childhood that has shaped who she's become today. As she returns to the Hampton's she soon starts to learn of everyones hidden secrets and she sets on her goal not to forgive those that destroyed her family but to get her revenge.

My view: Only make sense if you follow the story from the beginning... As a Drama, someone always dies for Revenge.

Two and a Half Men Season Premiere
Charlie Sheen's character will officially be killed off on the season premiere of Two and a Half Men, welcome Ashton Kutcher's character, Walden Schmidt!
ASHTON KUTCHER MEETS CHARLIE SHEEN ON TWO AND A HALF MEN

Nice to Meet You, Walden Schmidt

(Spoilers)
The writers screwed up when they suggested that Rose may have pushed Charlie onto the train tracks ... out of jealousy .. because she caught Charlie in the shower with another woman. Rose has always know that Charlie was a ManWhore and she accepted this part of Charlie's personality. Why would Rose kill Charlie now, just because he was once again cheating again?? Nope, I don't buy it and the writers should have come up with a more credable story of how Charlie died. (from comments)

My view: I only saw the last fifteen minutes of the show... still funny, but not the same... I will wait for the next episode... To be continued!

The Playboy Club

Set in 1963, Maureen joins the Chicago based Playboy Club as one of it's beautiful Bunnies. She is determined, bold, sexy and filled with ambition. During her first night of work she is introduced to Nick Dalton, a dashing handsome lawyer, who helps her when she kills a member of the mafia by accident.
As the events of the evening play out, we are introduced to the other Bunnies at the club; Bunny Alice who likes to work at the club for the financial freedom it brings her, Bunny Brenda who dreams of being the first ever African American centerfold for Playboy and Bunny Carol-Lynne who serves at the Bunny Mother to the other girls.

My view: Another drama with murder, corruption, sex and beautiful women. If don't see the first episode you will miss the objective...

SWEET HEAVENS

 SWEET  HEAVENS

Canadians consume the equivalent of 26 teaspoons of sugar (110grams) every day,
according to Statistics Canada.

One in every five calories that Canadians consume comes from sugar and more than
a third of that has been added to foods and beverages to improve palatability,
for instance in soft drinks, salad dressings, syrup and candy, states a study in
Statistics Canada Health Reports, released Wednesday.

The remainder is naturally occurring and found, for example, in milk and fruit.

Consumption varies by age. For youth ages 9 to 18, the top source of sugar comes
from soft drinks, which accounts for more than 14 per cent of their daily
intake. On a list of top 10 sources of sugar, vegetables rank last for this age
group, accounting for only 2.2 per cent of daily intake.

For children ages 1 to 8, milk is the top source of sugar, accounting for almost
20 per cent of intake. For this age group, vegetable also rank last Vegetables
rank last for this age group also, accounting for only 2.9 per cent of intake.
For those ages 19 and older, fruit is the top source of sugar, accounting for
17.4 per cent of intake. Vegetables rank higher for this group and are the sixth
top source of sugar, accounting for 6.8 per cent of daily intake. Cereals,
grains and pasta rank tenth, accounting for 3.3 per cent.

Although the body handles naturally occurring and added sugars the same way,
foods high in added sugar tend to provide less nutritional value.

RED HEADS NEED NOT APPLY

Sperm bank: Redheads need not apply

  •  Accordingly to the news, "red hair" colour will be extinct in the next 100 years

  • A+ Redhead JokesIf you’ve got red hair, don't bother donating sperm at Cryos International, one of the world’s largest sperm banks.

Demand for redheads is still high in Ireland, according the clinic, but apparently it’s not enough to persuade officials at Cryos sperm bank to continue accepting them. It has 140,000 doses of sperm from red heads, and that’s enough.

"Our function in society is to have all races and all ethnicities. Our problem is that we have too many Scandinavians only,"
When parents are seeking sperm, she says, they often prefer donors who are athletically or musically inclined, and they prefer donors who are educated. Sometimes they even want a specific blood type.

"Some people are very interested in their looks and even the shape of their face, and how tall the family members are," she says. "They want all kinds of ethnic backgrounds and eye color including green, hazel, brown and blue."

Red Hair Day attracts 3,000 gingers
More than 3,000 people with red hair have gathered in the Dutch city of Breda for the annual Red Hair Day.
The day was launched in 2005 when a local artist advertised for red-headed models to paint but got so many replies (over 150) he took a group photo instead.

Artist Bart Rouwenhorst says he had planned the day as a one-off but got so many calls and emails he decided to make it an annual event.

Since then, red heads have gathered once-a-year to celebrate thier difference, discuss their experiences of being ginger and be photographed by artists.

Organised events include catwalk shows, musical performances … and the bulk buying of hair dye.

Blond-haired Rouwenhorst added that painting redheads is a hobby of his and he thinks they are taller and more inteligent then other people.

    RED HAIR FACTS

Some of us are drawn to the color Red like a bull in Spain, relentless, fixed, and pure. Less than four percent of the world population has naturally red hair. That is less than two percent in America. The gene for Ginger hair was discovered in 1995 and this discovery got little attention. This is not consistent as red heads have gotten lots of it. Some negative such as the association with witches and a crazy temper. Some are positive, such as our love for Lucy, The Little Mermaid, and the Feminist icon of Lilith, the first wife of Adam who insisted on sexual equality. So many deceptive MYTHS are of common knowledge concerning the crimson strand. Read up on the TRUE history of this striking genetic endowment.

The highest percentage of natural redheads in the world is in Scotland (13%), followed closely by Ireland with 10%. In the US, about 2% of the population are natural redheads.

(In article by -- Doll, Susan. "Marilyn Monroe's Early Life." 29 August 2007. HowStuffWorks.com. 19 May 2010.):"One afternoon in 1946, Snively sent Norma Jeane to 'Frank & Joseph's Beauty Salon' to have her hair done for a modeling assignment for Rayve shampoo. [my note: This salon styled hair of big stars at that time.] On that day in 1946, a timid Norma Jeane walked into the salon and asked if something could be done to make her look better for her shampoo shoot that evening. Tint technician Sylvia Barnhart and shop owner Frank immediately set out to straighten Norma Jeane's hair, which Barnhart has described as
    "brown and kinky."
The strong solution used in the process also lightened her hair, giving it a reddish-blonde cast. Norma Jeane was quite pleased by the effect and wanted to go blonder. Over the next four to five months, Barnhart changed the color of the young model's hair to a golden honey-blonde by lightening and toning it a step at a time.
Barnhart disputes the oft-told tale that Norma Jeane did not want to be a blonde and that she resisted any suggestion to change her hair color. To the contrary, Norma Jeane felt a lighter color helped accentuate her eyes, which Barnhart has described as "beautiful [and] luminous.""
